A journey through time

The shipyard of Kos started operating in 1912, in the harbour the Island, next to the Castle of the Knights. It was founded by Dimitrios Markoglou, born in Symi, Dodecanese in 1896.

The types of ships constructed were "perama", "trehantiri", "karavoskaro" and trawls. The materials used were pine trees, obtained by Samos Island and a village in Rhodes, called Lardos.

During its 57 years of operation, the shipyard of Kos maintained and constructed dozens of ships.
