Riding to alluring sunsets

Surprisingly enough, there are about six therapeutic and athletic horse riding centres dotted around the island. The Riding Club of Kos offers horse riding and archery lessons and is a great place to enjoy horse riding during your holidays or learn archery from the experts. Riding enthusiasts, starting from the age of 6, are able to familiarise with the exciting sport of horse riding, whereas archery fans are able to attend lessons starting from the early age of 8. In fact, the island hosted the Panhellenic Archery Competitions, October 2 and 3, 2021.

Rest of the private horse riding centres offer horseback riding tours, for beginners and experts alike. Riding by the Aegean can be a real treat, especially during sunset, where one can admire colours of saffron and gold reflecting onto the shivering sea. There are plenty of great seaside rides, usually featuring trails around Marmari and Tigaki beach, allowing you to experience the serenity of the region while admiring epic sunset views of horses walking literally into the water.

Families, couples and friends are able to spend some quality time here and create memories with their loved ones. All tours are guided and suited for all ages. Well trained horses are available for coastal rides or rides around the salt lake of Tigaki. Pony rides are also available for little riders whereas "swimming with horses" is left for experienced riders. Some of the stables have sitting areas, snack bars and playgrounds, and others also have farms presenting a variety of domestic animals like deers, llama, geese, chicken, rabbits and frogs into charming little ponds, keeping children constantly occupied!

Horseback riding by the sea will allow you to reconnect with nature and experience the soothing effect of being near horses firsthand, all the while admiring the iconic sunset in the Aegean. Even if you are a complete beginner and haven't even seen a horse up close before, experts will guide you along the way providing clear instructions, full support, and safety equipment for a secure and carefree ride.
