Kefalos

Found just a few kilometres before Kefalos bay and 40 kilometres from Kos town, Camel beach might be easy to reach but not as easy to descend, so do mind the steep downhill after following the sign to Camel beach, on the left side of the main road to Kefalos. One or two restaurants are found before heading down to the sandy beach, from where you can gaze at the endless sea and vast sky far away.

Camel beach

Camel beach is sort of divided in two areas, the one includes sun beds and umbrellas while the other, found just after crossing over the large brownish stone hills, looks like an untouched land, usually hosting home-made tents and scattered groups of people enjoying the sunshine. Camel beach features caramel-coloured, extra-thin sand, clear shimmering waters and rocky formations all around, with the quieter part usually being a bit more laid back.

Must do
Soak up some rays and if you feel like it, go snorkelling to admire the sandy sea bottom or take a scenic walk around the beach to collect tiny seashells.

Did you know?
The fact that Camel beach is sort of divided into two areas resembling a camel's back, is often a wild guess regarding the origin of the beach name!
