Known primarily among partygoers for its nightlife a few decades back, Kardamena boasts a wonderful, mostly sandy, coastline dotted with cafes, restaurants, cocktail bars and intimate family-run taverns. The sea is crystal clear, yet in some places it deepens quickly, so it’s probably better to be safe than sorry.

Usually serene and waveless, the sheltered beachfront areas of Kardamena, located 30 kilometres from Kos town, offer a piece of Greece to everyone. Lively beach bars, seaside taverns offering savoury treats, trendy haunts, small rustic joints, secluded beach areas, nudist spots and so much more, are among the reasons Kardamena has been a favourite summer destination for years.

A few spots along the long coast in Kardamena might be a bit rocky, so if you are a soft seabed devotee make sure to pack a pair of water shoes.

Did you know?

Kardamena, known as Alasarna in antiquity, has been a blooming settlement as many findings indicate. The settlement, cemetery and four basilicas from the early Christian centuries give away a flourishing citym, with several temples and a lively commercial activity!
