Tigaki

One of the most popular beaches in Kos island, adorned with palm trees and tamarisk trees along the coast. Found 11 kilometres from Kos town, the tropical atmosphere of Tigaki is easily reached using either the frequent local buses or a taxis, rental car or motorbike. To reach Tigaki, a scenic bike ride into nature is also highly recommended, using the backside road, which is flat to cycle and starts from Faros beach, in Lambi.

Tigaki beach

On the main seaside road of Tigaki, visitors will be passing through laid-back bars and casual restaurants, while side streets are dotted with boutique hotels, apart-hotels, guest houses or resorts. The long coastline is pretty popular for families, because of its shallow, transparent waters and long, sandy coast. Its mostly organised seashore is often decorated with seaweed and offers sun beds with plenty of shade. Water sports in Tigaki are, of course, widely on offer and utterly enjoyed by its thousands of visitors every year.

Must do
Appreciate the saffron-coloured sky shimmering over the emerald surface waters, when the sun sets into the Aegean.

Did you know?
Tigaki’s salt lake (or Alykes) is a Natura 2000 nature reserve found in Tigaki, with reedbeds, marshy areas and plenty of migratory birds, including the stunning flamingos. However, the lake dries out during the intense summer months, leaving behind an all-white surface from the remaining salt.
